Law Minister Dhakal clarifies bill seeking amendment of National Human Rights Commission Act- 2068 not be withdrawn

Kathmadu, Arpil 30: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal has clarified that the bill registered in the parliament seeking amendment of National Human Rights Commission Act- 2068 will not be withdrawn. The bill was earlier registered in the parliament by the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Speaking at a meeting of Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives held at Singhadarbar today, Minister Dhakal said that combined efforts are being made to enrich the bill.

Meanwhile, National Human Rights Commission Chair Anupraj  Sharma informed that the government has only addressed 13 % of complaints made for demanding  punishments to culprits involved in the cases of human rights violations.

Similarly, lawmakers participating in the meeting has stressed on the need of strengthening the National Human Rights Commission to safeguard human rights in the country.
