Supreme Court scraps provision of online media renew

March 14, Kathmandu: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order to scrap the provision of annual renew of online media.

A divisional bench of Justice Deepak Kumar Karki and Sushmalata Mathema on Tuesday issued a directive to annul the rule which stated that online media would be shut if its renewal is not carried out annually.

The apex court order has scrapped the provisions stipulated in Clause 6 of the Online Media Operation Directive-2073.

The court issued a certiorari order to scrap this provision noting it was inconsistent with the constitution.
